Good Food NEVER fails to make US happy!

CAMPUS LIFE

I have attended class for a week so far. There are many new experiences, surprises and confusion but it was in general a busy and happening week. First of all, I have to go campus on foot for approximately 20 minutes daily. It is not that there is no bus but it isn't worth the wait. Furthermore, the scenery is fantastic so why waste?? It is so funny how we will dash across to a building as it gets colder. Anyway, on the way to campus, we will always walk past this area where there are trees with pink flowers. It is SO SO BEAUTIFUL. The colour is so fantastic. These is also another part where the flowers are white. It looks as if it is snowing. HMMMM... There are also lots of geese on campus. They are in general harmless but we juz need to take note of their powerful wings and of coz the smelly n disgusting 'presents' they leave behind on the ground!! YUCKS! There are also lots of small yellow flowers among the grasses with some scattered Dandileon. This is only on campus but when we go off campus like kitchener or st Jacob, there are more types n colourful flowers. The tulips here are so huge n nice! I wish i can bring back some ....

I basically hang out lots in MC building on campus. There is this coffee n donut shop there that offers the cheapest n the best coffee around. The irish cream n hazelnut are fantastic. Coffee is really important to start the day especially in this cold weather. There are also Tim Hortons around campus. I love the mint chocolate donut they sell... IT IS THE BEST!!! ... too bad i didn't take a picture of it... next time ba!!

The transport around the town is very convenient. The nearest mall is Conestoga Mall. It is not really big but you can find anything you need to survive over there. We bought flip flops there which is really cheap n important to hav here because the house gets really sandy very fast here so i prefer to wear my slippers around. Not forgetting.... we have the A&W here and NEW YORK FRIES... i noe it is really unhealthy but hu cares... I still love it... hehhehe.

I forget to mention my housemates!!! I stayed at house 10 with Sun Qing, Emma n Emily. I knew Sun Qing from Singapore. The other two are canadians. They went back to their home this weekend because it is a long weekend with Monday being a public hol, Victoria Day. Some of my friends went to Toronto but some including me decided to juz laze around here as we were too tired. Afterall we still hav lots of time in the future to go Toronto... I fear getting bored so i rather not rush all my travelling.. :)

There are so many happenings that i can't explain at one time... I will just show picures along the way ...

FOOD FOOD FOOD:

If you ask me what i have learnt the most so far, i will definitely say COOKING... hahahha... not maths, not language, not anything but FOOD... hahhaha.. well because we cooked a lot here. Not only that, i spent lots of money on food. Going to the mart, buying groceries requires alot of money!! So far, we tried to cook baked rice, pasta, fried rice, potato salad, chicken chop,etc... there will be lots more coming!!! hahha.. it is actually quite fun to cook... Especially this weekend, the people that can cook actually all went to Toronto. Only left with us the unprofessionals... But guess wad, we did really well... the food we cooked was fantastic.hehehe...

First dinner

Brocolli with oyster sauce

Sunny Brocolli

Dessert - Banana coated with chocolate

FANTASTIC APPLE FRITTER @ St Jacob (the best food so far)

KITCHENER:

Yung Hei, Ester n me had no class on last Thursday so we decided to make a trip to Kitchener. We took bus 8 to go there. We went to the edge and shopped around the shopping mall. There are lots of known brands as well as locals. Then we walked around the place. There are many shops like Toys' R Us, Furniture mall like IKEA(can't remember the name), etc. Ester n Yung Hei bought skates but i didn't cause cant find the size :(... They say we have to skate here since there is an iceskating ring in UW... Isn't kewl? We watched the ice hockey team play the other day... back to topic, After that, we went to downtown kitchener where the city hall is.... There is also the Victoria Park where unfortunately it is under construction....We were so tired by the end of the day. I practically sleep with sore legs. There are more picture... but all in Ester cam... next time then i will upload.

It was supposed to be the previous night at 12 am but she slept so earlt that we had to postpone the surprise. Michelle used the relightable candle to SABO her... hahhaha she didnt realise it until she saw the pack!!! -_-.. SHE IS SO CUTE!!! Anyway, after that we took bus to go St. Jacob!!! It was a long wait but it is wortth it. The place is so ...hmmm... traditional ?? They dun actually use technology over there... They ride caravan with horses. The people do wear their traditional costumes.

We went to the St. Jacob Market. We had breakfast there.... OH MY GOSH!!! THE FOOD WAS THE BEST!!! The apple Fritters was so nice.... the sausage was great and the pancake with the maple syrup was ....WOW!!! Great breakfast to start the day... I think i have to go there to eat again!!! Then we walk around the wet market. The fruits and vegetables there are so huge n bright n cheap. We bought some apples, grapes, ribs, brocolli back. There are lots of beautiful flowers for sale as well... seriously a lot of them!!! Then we walked to the shopping outlet there. There is Levis there that sell jeans so much cheaper than in SPore... ANyway, i bought one set for my sis's Baby!!! hehehe... It is so lucky!!! i bought lot sof stuff for her already!!! -_-...

On our way back, we made a loop to St Jacob village. The houses there are so cute!!! hahaha... n the people here seriously love flowers... Most will have a garden of flowers in front of their house... It is nice to see as u drove past them...

Preety pretty Waterloo

815 am: Check in
900 am: Meet Friends
930 am: Goodbye Singapore.
1015 am: Fly ............... CX736
230 pm: Hello Hong Kong
435 pm: Fly........... CX826
724 pm: Hello Toronto
1100 pm: Hello Waterloo

It was indeed a tiring journey!!!... 4 hrs to Hong Kong n 14 hrs to Toronto n 1.5 hrs to Waterloo. I am supposed to sleep during the trip but the seats on the plane was so terrible ( i took Cathay pacific by the way), that i can't sleep well. I keep tossing around n changing position but to no avail. haiz... Then i started to look through the entertainment. Unfortunately, i have watched most of the movies. Yar... wadeva.... The food was acceptable though especially the ice cream.. YUMMY!!! hehhe...

After we arrived at Toronto, we got delayed because we can't find the mini bus that was supposed to bring us to UW. We took some time to locate the desk n board the bus. We arrived at CLV (our residence) at around 11 pm. We were extremely exhausted and cold by then. However, it seemed that everyone can't sleep early including myself. The next morning, i woke up really early like 630 am. Surprisingly early for me, considering that i rarely will wake up so early. Not forgetting, the daylight here is really long from 830 pm to 5 am ?? I m not really sure but it is about there.

Then my first day of school was WOW!!!... I have 5 classes that day but it was amazingly refreshing and fun. The weather was still really cold. I wished i brought more jackets. I thought it would be HOT. I mean... HELLO!!!!! it is supposed to be SUMMER!!!!... Anyway, the classes here are really different from NUS. We don't really have lecture notes, we have to copy all our notes. Plus!! all the lectures are only one hour long!!! hehehe... This is a much better system i guess... At least by copying, i get to listen n understand the topic. Also, it seems that lots of quizzes, assignments are a trend here. We have like lots of works to do even if it is juz the 2nd week of class.

Besides the academic, UW is really a very serene place. There are no tall buildings around. The scenery is really beautiful. I cant's really describe it so i might as well show it on photos. There are lots of geese and squirrels around though. Not forgetting, MY ROOM!!!...There are 4 of us living in a house, sharing a living room, kitchen, washroom.... My housemates: Emma, Emily n Sun Qing. Everybody lives quite near to each other actually. HEHHE... dun wan to talk much now... show more pics then...in random!!!
